We have learned that the family of a 22-year-old man who was killed by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies has filed a lawsuit against the county. They are alleging that the deputies used “unreasonable and excessive force.”

Last year, Carmelo Pizarro Jr. was shot and killed in front of his home. Sheriff’s deputies say that they saw Pizarro driving his Mitsubishi in nearby Pico Rivera at around 1:30 am on June 19, 2018. They suspected he was intoxicated and attempted a traffic stop. Deputies say he sped away and eventually crashed.
